Homecoming Weekend Recap

by: Rita Woeste

Stadium Alums started their day early for the OSU Homecoming weekend, since the Buckeye Game was at the regular time, NOON, as most of us remember when games started in our college days.  Our 8 am meeting was at RPAC, that’s Larkins for us older alumni, and we caught up on the many events going on with students in our current program at Scholars East and West on 10th Ave on the south side of campus.  We honored one of our alums, Bruce McPheron, who happens to work as Chief Academic Officer and Provost at OSU, who expressed the same sentiments as many alums of how the Stadium Scholarship Program supported him to create his lifelong opportunities. Cheria Dial, our current superstar dorm director, and students gave us an update on the program and  the slate of officers and board members for the upcoming year was approved.

We welcome Iric Bernal, to the Stadium Scholarship Alumni Board and thrilled with all of our members who stay in contact and help when they can with student and alumni activities.  Our meeting concluded with all of the Stadium Alumni joining other alumni groups for yet another great Tailgate, sponsored by the OSU Alumni Association, downstairs at one of the RPAC gyms.  There was plenty of food and drink along with OSU spirit.  Folks could get face painting, pics in a photo booth along with just a festive pregame atmosphere to reconnect with both Stadium Alums and other OSU alumni.  This year we had the advantage of a very short walk to The Shoe and of course cheer our BUCKEYES onto another win, this time against Rutgers. Our seats were still in C deck but up there we don’t miss any of the game.  I hope more of you can join us next year at our Homecoming reunion event or at another Stadium Sponsored event throughout the year.
